Officials from the Social Security Administration have announced that there will be no delay in Social Security checks after federal legislators approved a deal to raise the nation’s debt ceiling.
Before President Obama signed the deal to raise the debt ceiling last week, some feared that August’s Social Security payments could be delayed without an agreement on how government funding should be distributed. The President himself expressed concern that the federal government did not have enough cash to mail the checks.
About 28 million checks were sent out in the mail last week and another 27 million checks will be sent out later in the month.
